Glenda Brindle
Glenda is an experienced governor and educational professional. She is the Chair of Governors in a Lancashire school and Chair of the local governing body for an academy in a different authority. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience from various different organisations and educational bodies. This follows on from her very successful career as Head of Art at Lancaster University.
Tom Ward
Dr Tom Ward has extensive professional experience in biosciences, and currently is bioscience lead at Lighthouse Labs. Having worked worked as a scientist for 18 years in Cancer Research and gaining a PhD in Molecular Biology, Tom is currently working at the forefront of developing solutions to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Tom’s interest in joining the trust was rooted in his personal experience of having children at Chorley New Road Primary Academy.
Tom joined the trust as a member in 2021. With his extensive science background he is well used to organisational scrutiny and accountability.
Simon Partington
Simon's first graduate job was as a systems analyst in the nuclear power industry. Five years later, Simon entered the education profession as a mathematics teacher in 1993. Since that time, he has held a wide variety of teaching and managerial roles within Sixth Form Colleges and General Further Education Colleges in the North of England.
Simon was appointed Principal and Chief Executive at Runshaw College in September 2013 having joined as Assistant Principal in 2006.
Having volunteered as a governor and then trustee at Albany Academy for 8 years, bringing his experience of leading a world class educational establishment to the board, Simon now provides expert educational oversight as a member.
Andy Wiles
Andy has worked as a manager and of several large firms. He has travelled widely in his career, working overseas in China for large parts of his time with Electrium. Andy has been a governor at Albany Academy for several years, chairing the finance committee for 6 years. He has an excellent staff management, HR, finance and strategic planning skills and experience. Since moving to Dublin to work for Facebook, Andy has become a member of the trust board, where he contributes a wealth of business experience.
The members of the trust who are signatories to the articles of association and who have a similar role to shareholders in a company limited by shares.
Members control changes in the constitution of the Trust.
They have the power to appoint trustees and governors and remove them by ordinary resolution.
They will approve any amendments made to the articles of association.
